Where your recordings go
Written so you can quote it in an ethics application. If your protocol asks something this page doesn’t answer, send us the question.
It is meant for IRBs and research ethics committees, including the CEP in Brazil, and for data protection officers.
The dashed line goes around transcription only
- You upload the recordings through a private link we set up for your project. Your browser encrypts each file before sending it, and the key that opens the files isn’t on the web server.
- On our workstations in Brazil, Whisper (run locally through
whisper.cpp) makes the first draft and pyannote separates the speakers. Producing the transcript doesn’t send your audio to an outside transcription service or speech API. - A native speaker reviews the draft and corrects it.
- The transcript is translated, if you asked for English.
- You receive DOCX, TXT, and SRT files with a short delivery report.
- When the retention period in your protocol ends, we delete the files and confirm the deletion by email.
For steps 3 and 4, and wherever files are stored along the way, we name the tools in writing before the project starts.

This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties.
The site runs no analytics and embeds nothing from other servers. The contact form sends your message by email and doesn’t store it on the web server. To check, open your browser’s developer tools, reload this page, and look at the Network tab: every request goes to riverabrazil.com. The page also sends a Content-Security-Policy header that tells your browser to refuse anything from another address. Our privacy notice says what the server logs and what happens to the details you send us through the form.
